The Business of Media
The Business of Media Breakfast Sessions at the Ivy Club
A private event series for London’s senior media leaders.
Over the last decade, online technologies have transformed the way that people view, read, create and deliver media. However, while technology has leapt ahead, the business models underpinning the media industry have often not kept pace.
Our breakfast series examine a different facet of the media industry at each session, and these sessions are designed to encourage cross-sharing of thoughts, ideas and models so that our industry continues to evolve and thrive over the years to come. Hosted by Paul Naha-Biswas, and moderated by media commentator Kate Bulkley, a panel of senior commercial leaders will discuss how the media industry is changing and what this means for the business of media to an audience of media leaders and Ivy Club members.
Corporate venturing
In a bid to win in the digital world, companies are increasingly looking to the high stakes game of start-ups and ventures. But with high investment and failure rates and where success comes from entrepreneurialism as much as a well-supported idea, how do today’s incumbents cherry-pick, invest in and grow tomorrow’s digital titans?
National in an international world
In a battle for scale, national broadcasters are often cast as collateral damage in a war between digital giants. But, with national broadcasters still dominating video viewing as well adopting the best of digital innovation, is a national model a keystone, rather than a millstone, for tomorrow’s television winners?
How ‘Good Business’ became good for business
For the past 50 years, shareholder profit has been the overriding factor in the way businesses work, think and hire. But, with today’s consumer responsibility replacing yesterday’s consumerism, businesses are increasingly looking to be ‘good citizens’ and reflect the culture and issues that matter most to their customers and employees alike
